Overview
- Lunar (plural form), Luna (singular).
- Are large hounds/foxes/wolves/etc., varies with each herd. Capable of taking their own anamorphic form without the need of the Drul spells.
- They live off the sun and hibernate in the winter when the sun is weak. Harboring sunlight is their food/energy source, though when they are truly hungry, they can eat anything of their choosing - trash included.
- Their natural magic helps keep the earth in balance. Like Druls, they return to the earth when they are ready to pass on.
- The Lunar roam in herds and keep to themselves. More commonly found in highly wooded areas far from human/nonhuman dwellings. Herds are lead by a single herd leader whose reign is passed down through a child of leader's choosing. Mates are taken for life and children are occasionally adopted from outside of a herd.
- Are usually calm, gentle creatures; but not quite pacifists, as they enjoy a good fight as much as any other creature.
The Lunar Society
Lunar herd life is complex but constant. Certain families are responsible for various activities in camp which can range from making weapons and tools to looking after the pups. The cycle of activity continues throughout the day, from sunrise to sundown, broken only by noon and nightly meals. All herd meetings and meals are held in the camp longhouses, which every herd without fail builds for the winter months. The herd leader can choose whether or not to dine with his/her people, it is not a faux pas if they choose not to do so.
Laws and rules in the herd constantly change and are dependent upon each herd, though they do have one Golden Rule: the earth is our Mother and one must always show respect.
